Tom has defended corporations, insurers and employers in workers’ compensation matters. In that role, he has advised, directed strategy, and defended employers against several hundred occupational disease claims over a period of several years. Tom serves as Portfolio Network Counsel for a group of major property and casualty insurers to handle all workers’ compensation cases in Minnesota.
Tom’s workers’ compensation defense practice involves complex liability allocation issues, trial and settlement strategy, appellate practice, excess coverage issues, reimbursement, subrogation and indemnity issues and the exclusive remedy provisions of the Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Act.
Tom has been appointed an Equitable Apportionment Arbitrator under the Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Act and testifies as an expert witness with respect to Workers’ Compensation matters. He has an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating in the distinguished legal directory, Martindale-Hubbell®.
